Portfolio Day
February 7, 2014

Portfolio Day at the UIC School of Architecture is an annual event celebrating the best architecture graduate student portfolios of the year. This event is the culmination of a student, faculty, and alumni voting process that included the planning and execution of a Wednesday Episode dedicated to the presentation and balloting by the graduate students. Alumni are encouraged to attend the cocktail reception and exhibition to vote for their choice for the A3 Alumni Choice Award.

A public exhibition of the exhibitor's portfolios was designed for the event. While the physical portfolios are on display for voting, I wanted to create another way to highlight the student's work while maintaining the physical presence of the portfolio as an object itself. Black and white photocopies of selected spreads were wallpapered around the adjacent octagonal gallery along with single color photocopies of event marketing materials. After the event these pieces were moved to a display in the second floor ribbon gallery space.

Additionally, graphic materials, from invitations, both public and alumni-focused, ballots, exhibition guides, name tags, way-finding, and signage were designed specifically for this event. Approximately 250 students, faculty, and alumni attended the event on February 7, 2014.
